It was a long anticipated Saturday night out. The weather could not have been better. Crazy hot all day and as soon as the sun went down it became a perfect jeans and t shirt night. The plan was Red Bank N.J. Dinner and a few “cough, cough” cocktails. After checking out a number of places, our dinner location was still unknown. During our search down Broad street we land on Red. To be honest, the open air dining was the biggest draw. The table wasn’t necessarily part of the main dining room, but there is nothing better then watching the world go by on a Saturday night.

At first glance at the menu, we knew some appetizer sushi was in order. The two sushi rolls we chose were, the Broad Street Roll and the Gold Street Roll. Each excellent with the Gold Street slightly edging over the Broad Street.

The Broad Street Roll consisted of lobster, mango, tuna, avocado, tobiko, wrapped in cucumber, with a spicy mango sauce on the side. Every aspect of the roll was fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed the light crisp flavor.

The Gold Street Roll had a bit deeper flavor to it, with perfectly prepared pepper seared tuna being the main attraction. You will find a combination of pepper tuna and spicy tuna here, topped with tempura flakes. Accompanied by a delicious combination of  wasabi aioli, and a yuzi aioli. Again the fish and avocado could not be more fresh and full-flavored.

A couple of well deserved vodka drinks go by, and we decide on the Steak Frites as the entree. This dish included a hanger steak with a blue cheese shallot butter drizzled atop, and a side of french fries. The unbelievable preparation and flavor of this dish is the reason I chose to write this review. This is as close to perfectly cooked as I have ever seen before, and completely unexpected considering I didn’t even know RED served steak at all. This generously portioned, wonderfully seasoned cut of meat arrived tender and juicy from the first bite to the last.

Our excellent experience ended at RED after a few more drinks and some more world watching. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to enjoy another scrumptious entree.
